Internship with Childrenswear Brand JoJo Maman Bebe
I was lucky enough to take on an internship with famous British childrenswear brand JoJo Maman Bebe, working with the design team in there Battersea head office.

JoJo Maman Bebe Website: ‘Laura Tension founded the company in 1992, she fell in love with the outdoor lifestyle. With the practical way children are dressed to enjoy being active whatever the weather’.

Whilst working for the company as a customer service advisor, I was lucky enough to be asked to complete an internship at the company’s head office, working primarily with the design team.
Whilst on my placement I worked on a few projects for the company, firstly the team and I designed a variety of mood boards based on initial ideas and themes for next seasons collection. Which we then presented to the whole team, which was over 200 people. They then gave us their feedback. ‘This was really interesting to see how fashion companies have meetings and showcase their ideas to the other departments within the brand.

Also, I collaboratively worked with the merchandising department, on product research visits where we would visit competitor brands and purchase items of their current collections, which we would then take back to head office for the team to look at.
‘This was a lot of fun, as it wasn’t something I’d thought about that companies have to do’.

My internship consisted of daily company morning meetings, where each head of each department, would tell the whole team what they’ve been working on. Finalising with the aims for that day, and what needs to be completed. ‘I enjoyed watching how the department heads present their work to the team, this style of presenting I will take forward when showcasing my own work and findings’.

Finally, during my time at head office I took part in few spontaneous store visits in London with the design team, to see the new collection and see how the store teams are finding it. I liked seeing how the head designers spoke to the store teams and made them feel part of the process.
‘I spoke to a few customers, asking about their thoughts on the new collection and their favourite items from it’. It’s always nice to get feedback from the customers, because obviously if they weren’t there, there would be no brand or custom.

Furthermore, I really enjoyed my internship at JoJo Maman Bebe, and learnt so much about being at the centre of a fashion brand and seeing how the behind-the-scenes action happens.
